New Driver's Licenses

Many people may have heard about MPI's decision to move to a one piece driver's license. Many people may have wondered when that day might come. Well that day has arrived.

Starting last month everyone who has had to renew the driver's license will be getting the new one piece. When you come to our office to renew, you will be issued a temporary paper license that goes with your existing photo portion. This is valid until your new one piece license arrives or until the expiry date on the temporary license. If for some reason you have not received the new one piece by the time your temporary license expires, you need to re-visit us and get a second temporary one.

Your new one piece license witll have all your information on it. Photo, address, effective and expiry dates, height, and any restrictions you may have on your license.

One thing everyone should understand is that this new license is not good for entry into the United States. If you want that feature you have to pay extra for the Enhanced Driver's License. The enhanced license is good for travel into the U.S. by road or boat.

So if you have any questions, please give us a call.

SnoPass Purchases

Well we finally have some snow (darn) and cold weather (darn again). And with the snow and cold weather people are starting to think about pulling out there snow machines.

This year Autopac brokers across the province are offering the Snoman Snopass. What is Snoman? Snoman is a non profit organization representing different provincial snowmobiling clubs which maintain and groom over 12,000km of Manitoba's scenic trails.

What is Snopass? A Snopass is a decal that is affixed to an Off Road Vehicle license plate. All snowmobilers that choose to travel on a desginated Snofund Trail are required by law to have a valid Snopass and to display it on a valid plate that is affixed to the snowmobile. By holding a Snopass riders are entitled to use all trails in Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

The cost of an annual Snopass is $105.50. However the price goes up to $135.50 after December 15, 2009. So make sure you come see us soon to get the best pice for this product!

New Faces

Some people may notice that we have some new faces on our team. Karen, Rhonda and Toula are all fairly new to our offices. Each one brings their own unique experiences and personality with them. I think that you will find each is a pleasure to deal with for whatever you may need.

You will also notice that Leann finally has her picture up for everyone to see. I am sure many of our Portage Avenue clients are familiar with Leann's smiling face.

So come down to either office and meet our team in person. We are all waiting to help you with whatever you may need.

Changes

Well first of all let me apologize for the spotty blogging. It has always been our intention to make this a regular feature of our website. Rest assured we will work on making sure we share our thoughts with you on a more up to date basis.

One of the reasons there has been a blog delay has been our summer, or lack thereof. With our weather everyone tried to take whatever spare time they had to get out and enjoy our wonderful province while we had the chance. Whether it was hitting the beach, running through the park, going for a bike ride, I hope everyone was able to enjoy our all too short summer.

And now change has come and fall is upon us, with winter close behind. However the seasons are not the only thing that changes. We have had several new staff member join our team. Their photos and bio's will be up on our site soon (if they are not there already). What we are excited about is that each of them brings with them, experience, excitement, and a dedication to our clients. We are very happy to have them and feel incredibly lucky that each of them has commited to us and our clients.

Time to Travel?

Spring break is coming up. People are taking advatange of travel deals. It is still horribly cold and maybe its just time to take a break. Whatever your reason maybe now its time to get away.

And if you are going to go away, you should make sure you have your insurance needs covered. So what should you worry about? Well there are lots of different types of travel insurance. The one most people are concerned about is travel medical insurance. This is coverage that will assist you if you become ill or injured while away from Manitoba. The product we sell is through Manitoba Blue Cross and for most people it provides unlimited coverage. You definately do not want to be left without adequate insurance while away from home. Blue Cross makes sure you are covered to whatever the limit may be that is incurred. In addition they include several excellent additional coverages.

- Hospital in-patient & out-patient charges
- Medical & surgical coverages
- Ambulance service
- Air transport home by stretcher
- Dental care to natural teeth as a result of an accident (up to $1,500)
- Additional cost of return economy airfare from the plase where hospitalized as an in-patient to Manitoba (including the cost of return enomomy flight for a nurse if nursing care is required during your flight home), and the family or one friend also covered by a Blue Cross Travel Health Policy.

These are only some of the excellent coveraged provided by a Travel Medical Insurance Policy. They are also good examples of why you should buy this coverage whether you intend to travel internationally or within Canada.

So whether you are skiiing in B.C. or sitting on a beach in Mexico, talk to us first so that you can get the protenction you need.

Christmas time is fast approaching and we want to wish everyone a Happy Holidays.

I am getting ready for Christmas with my two daughters. And even though they are young, we are trying to teach them the importance of charity and goodwill. I want to show them how meaningful it is to be a positive force for others who do not have the same opportunities as we do.

I think especially at this time of year many of us think about those less fortunate than ourselves. How can we make things a little better for those people in our community. Or perhaps you want to reach out and help someone in a third world country. Well there are many great and wonderful charities to choose from.
http://www.winnipegharvest.org/ http://www.christmascheerboard.ca/ http://www.childrenswish.ca/index_2007.php/en/welcome
http://www.stephenlewisfoundation.org/

These are some of the charities we support. So if you feel moved by the season, then call the Cheer Board, donate a hamper. Or help make a sick childs wish come true. Or find you own way to share the spirit of the season. It is easy to get involved.

So Merry Christmas everyone. From all of us here at Cox Morris Insuranc have a safe and wonderful Holiday.
